4-yrs on, retired firefighter awaits pension
‘LG sir settle my case I have no money for treatment of my ailing wife’

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 31: A retired firefighter, who superannuated in 2017, is finding it hard to get his wife treated for a heart ailment as his pension and other dues have not been settled till date due to someone tearing the first page of his service book.
He has urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene for settlement of his pension as well as other dues as he has not been left with a single penny for treatment of his ailing wife.
When he retired from service, he applied for release of dues and pension, he came to know that someone has torn the first page of his service book and since then he has been running from pillar to post to get his case settled.
“I appeal to LG sahib to either settle my case or give me a loan so that I can continue treatment of my ailing wife”, said Gh. Mohammad Lone, a retired firefighter.
“Our LG sahab is working round the clock for betterment of the people, but some black sheep in the administration have started new practice of keeping routine matters on hold post August 5, 2019 to defame Centre and the LG administration in J&K”, he said.
“Appropos to enquiry into malafide/ complicity with respect to date of birth, it is to intimate that the Service Book of Ghulam Mohammad Lone, fireman was found missing in the year 2013 and the same was later retrieved but the first page was missing of the same.
That was apparently torn and taken out. The photocopy of the first page of the service book available indicated the date of birth of the official as 22.12.1957”, reads a copy of letter written by the Director General, Fire & Emergency Services, J&K by Financial Advisor, Home Department on February 12, 2020.
The letter further read, “The verification report regarding qualification certificate of 10th Class under Roll no.25191 produced by Ghulam Mohammad Lone has been accepted by the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services without ascertaining its authenticity and the same qualification entry have been made in the service book of the official. The enquiries conducted into the matter have not been fruitful as the responsibility has not been fixed clearly”, the communication further reads.
“The undersigned is directed to request you to kindly conduct a preliminary enquiry in the matter and furnish a report regarding the same to this department by or before 17th February 2020”, the communique states, but unfortunately, the case of the firefighter has not been settled yet.
