| KVK-Leh organized Training programme for farmers | | |

Leh, Jan 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Leh (KVK), SKUAST-K, Leh organized a one day training cum awareness programme for the farming community belonging to the Tibetan Residents of Choglamsar village at KVK Stakna wherein about 40 farmers participated. Welcoming the participants, Dr. Feroz Din Sheikh, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Leh spoke on the mandate and activities of KVK for the overall benefit of farming community in the district. Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Scientist Vegetable Science and Jigmet Laskit, Programme Assistant gave a detail power point presentation on Organic Farming in vegetables and Management of pests in organic farming. The farmers were also shown the various demonstration units of KVK-Leh including various green houses, trenches, mushroom, plant protection laboratory and vermicomposting unit) located at the farm and were briefed the importance of these units for overall development of agriculture in the region. The farmers were also made aware of growing different leafy vegetables round the year in green houses and trenches. The training ended with a good interaction between the expert team of KVK Leh and farmers of the village. The participants also appreciated the efforts of KVK-Leh in promoting sustainable technologies in this cold arid region that has augmented their farm income. The programme ended with a interaction with the farming community. |
