Tehsildar conducts surprise check, finds school principal absent | ‘Attendance register seized, sent to SDM Khour for action’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2: Principal Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Khour was found unauthorizedly absent from duty on Tuesday. Official sources told Early Times that Tehsildar Khour visited the school on the basis of repeated complaints by local people. “The Principal was not regularly attending his duties since the day he was posted here, when head of the institute is not serious about his mandate, what can be expected from his juniors”, said a local resident, adding that by showing casual approach, the Principal was spoiling future of children, who have no other option other than a government school to study. “We cannot afford private schools for schooling for our children. Here in GHSS Khour a large number of students from poor families are studying. For education of our children in our town, the government is spending crores for paying salaries to teachers, school’s maintenance and other expenditure”, said another resident of Khour, adding that this Principal set a new example of remaining absent from duty. “In the time of information and technology, his unauthorised absence can be easily detected by the higher authorities by analysing his phone location for the last six months, no other evidence is required to know how much this school has suffered during his stay here”, he added. He said that the locals were forced to knock the doors of the concerned Executive Magistrate, as the head of GHSS Khour was not mending his way. “Yesterday, he was also absent from duty, and we informed Tehsildar Khour, who paid a surprise visit today and found the Principal unauthorizedly absent from his duties. It has been learnt, during Tehsildar’s visit nothing no leave application was found”, the locals claimed. When contacted Tehsildar Khour Sudesh Kumar on basis of complaints against Principal GHSS Khour said that he paid a surprise visit to the school and found him absent. “I brought attendance and punctuality registers of staff members of the school and have attached the same with my visit report. These have been submitted to SDM Khour for further action,” he added. |
