UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: The stink emanating from the garbage heaps from the urban local bodies from Lakhanpur to Banihal except the municipal corporation here is making life very tough and the concerned authorities are posing a blind eye to this vital public problem at a time when the deadly COVID pandemic has not died down completely.
"It becomes very tough to move through the lanes and roads in the all districts of Jammu divison of urban local bodies as there is bad smell everywhere and dirty water accumulated after overflowing from the drains ," sources informed.
"I really had tough time in passing through the road with heaps of garbage at its both ends as flies and mosquitoes are breeding there apart from the stink in udhampur town," a local of Udhampur town said. Similar were the views of many others in the other districts of Jammu region.
It is pertinent to mention here that Safai Karamcharis of the urban local bodies except municipal corporation are on Kaam Choddo protest for the last seven days demanding regularization, holidays day's salary, minimum wages act as per UT rules and others demands
When contacted director urban local bodies Jammu Asgar Hussain said that they are continuously trying to sort out the matter adding that hopefully strike will come to an end soon . |
