Assembly polls should be held with ballot papers: Shiv Sena | Sahni appeal for early restoration of democracy proces | | s Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 10: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit has demanded the restoration of the democracy process and the first assembly elections of the Union Territory J&K should be held with belt paper. Dozens of the party activists led by president UT , J&K Manish Sahni, performed silent protest with holding placards " Early Assembly elections " & "Use Ballot paper instead of EVM". While his addressing , Sahni urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for early restoration of democracy process in Jammu and Kashmir.“ As the national polity gears up for elections in other parts of the country, there is no reason that people of J&K should be excluded from the political arena. Sahni said that more than two years of governance has passed for the Governor and Lieutenant Governor in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, how satisfied the people with the removal of Article 370 are, the answer will also be known. He said the government’s core objective should be to restore democracy and hold elections at the earliest. Sahni adding that the people are skeptical of EVMs and demanded that the forthcoming Assembly elections should be held through old system of voting i.e, Ballot paper. Talking about the Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra , Sahni said that the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is likely to introduce the bill to conduct elections with ballot paper. At the same time, Sahni demanded that right of vote should be included in the list of Fundamental Rights. |
