| Sections of society criticize DDC members protest for better salary | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Mar 12: Many sections of the society have condemned the recent protest by the elected District Development Council (DDC) members demanding better salaries and protocol. Daily wagers, Block Development Councils, Panchayat Members, unemployment youth and others have said that protest of DDC members reflect their greed for big salaries and hunger for power.
“Even BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina jumped into the issue and communicated to the Lieutenant Governor about reconsidering the protocol and salaries of DDC members,” Bodh Raj—a daily wager with PHE department said. More such people said that daily wagers from different departments sat for days together at BJP office in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu demanding their regularization but Raina never paid any heed.
Even Block Development Council (BDC) and Panchayat members came forward and said that DDC members should have taken their issues too regarding meager salaries of Sarpanches, Panches and BDC members. Shafiq Mir, BDC Chairman said how can DDC members avoid them.
It is pertinent to mention here that 280 DDC members staged a protest demonstration yesterday demanding salary and protocol revision. Mir also said that DDC is not a political institution but is a place to serve people. “Even without DDC members all was going normal with government employees,” he claimed. |
