Setback to NC as Basharat Bukhari quits party | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 12: Former law and parliamentary affairs minister and senior National Conference leader Basharat Bukhari on Friday resigned from the party which he had joined in the year 2018 after deserting PDP. Bukhari resignation is considered as big setback to the NC. As per reports, Bukhari conveyed his decision through a hand written letter to NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and urged him to acknowledge the “expression.” “Very respectfully, I hereby disassociate from the party from this day 12th of March 2021, Friday onwards. Please be kind enough to acknowledge the above-mentioned expression and oblige.” Bukhari wrote in his letter to Dr Farooq Abdullah. Within minutes after Bukhari submitted his resignation from the party, former chief minister Omar Abdullah wished him good luck. “It wasn’t to be. I wish Basharat all the best for where ever his political journey takes him next.”, Omar tweeted. After resigning from PDP on December 19, Bukhari-a two-time MLA had joined NC. He was law and parliamentary affairs minister in the PDP-BJP government. After quitting PDP he had stated, “When opinions do not match with party leadership it’s high time to call it quits. I thought it was better to show some respect to myself. Mehbooba ji has grown up a lot and she doesn’t need my advice so I thought let her (Mehbooba) do whatever she wants to do on the advice of her coterie,” . |
