Jammu, Mar 12: Giving a clear signal to the separatist and anti-national groups, authorities- first time after 1947, permanently installed the national flag in the premises of a university in Kashmir Valley. The national tricolor was permanently installed in the premises of Central University of Kashmir as per decision taken by the Union Ministry of Education. Union Ministry of Education in the year 2016 had taken to install national flag in all central universities of the country. This decision was taken to instill patriotism among students across the country. Due to threats of separatist and anti-national groups, authorities were hesitating to install national flag in the premises of Central University of Kashmir. Ultimately authorities have accomplished this task to give a clear message to the anti-national forces. The flag, signifying a strong India will instill a sense of unity and integrity among students of Central University of Kashmir. Important to mention here that in the year 2013, students of Kashmir University had disrupted shooting of film ‘Haider’ as mark to protest against hoisting of tricolor in the campus. Although the national flag was hoisted only for shooting of the movie, students had strongly opposed this act. Notable PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on October 24, 2020 had said that members of her party would not raise the national flag unless they were allowed to raise the flag of erstwhile state of J&K. |
