| OBC Mahasabha, AIBCF demand change in nomenclature of OSC | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: All J&K OBC Mahasabha and All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF) have demanded change in nomenclature of "Other Social Castes" (OSC).
Addressing a press conference here today, Bansi Lal Choudhary, (Convener), All J&K OBC Mahasabha and Flans Raj Jangid, (President, All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF), New Delhi said that OSC should be replaced with Other Backward Class (OBC) so that there is parity at national level. This is imperative because OBCs of J&K cannot fight any legal case for their grievances at National level on the name of Other Social Caste (OSC) nomenclature.
They demanded multiple reservations to the General Category on the name of Backward area, (RBA=10%), Line of Control (ALC=4%) and Pahari speaking (PSP=4%) totaling 18% in addition to their own quota of 10% under Economically weaker section (EWS) should be stopped.
Socially and educationally backward classes Commission was constituted one year ago to settle the issue of OBC reservation in J&K UT and had to submit its report within three months but the Commission did not submit its report even after availing double of the time allotted to it, they said and added it is appealed to the SEBCC to release its recommendations immediately so that decade long deprivation of OBC people comes to an end. |
