Jammu, Mar 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K executive member Raman Suri, while expressing his concern over rising COVID-19 cases throughout the country including Jammu and Kashmir and considering Punjab government’s order for closure of educational institutions till March 30, has urged the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to review the UT administration's decision regarding schools and colleges here and if needed, order their closure as well. Raman Suri said schools and colleges must be closed for at least one month so that people, especially children, can be saved from infections and in the meantime, vaccination can be administered to everyone. He said that administration in Kashmir had to close three schools in Budgam district and a college in Srinagar after students and teachers tested positive for COVID-19. He urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the education authorities for closure of all schools for at least one month till vaccination drive is complete. Raman Suri said that there is no point in risking the lives of employees besides school children who are unable to follow COVID-19 guidelines. He added that it is practically not possible to follow all guidelines and almost every school and its staff besides students have lowered their guard, which is why these cases are erupting.Human lives, he said, are precious and we cannot do practicals on them. He said, several other states have also closed schools from where COVID-19 cases are coming, and Jammu .
