SRINAGAR, Mar 19: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in the Corona Virus cases as 152 new cases of the virus including 50 travelers were reported in the past 24 hours following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 28,249.
Srinagar district reported 69 fresh cases of COVID-19 including 32 travelers followed by Jammu district 20 cases including four travelers, Baramulla and Budgam districts 15 cases each, Kupwara district six cases, Pulwama district five cases, Shopian and Rajouri districts four cases each, Ganderbal and Ramban districts three cases each, Anantnag, Doda and Kathua districts two cases each and Bandipora & Kulgam districts one case each. A fresh death was reported from Jammu district.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 152 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 31 from Jammu division and 121 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1,28,249. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 72 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including six from Jammu division and 66 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 28,249 positive cases, 1,152 are active positive, 1, 25,118 have recovered and 1,979 have died; 732 in Jammu division and 1,247 in Kashmir division.
Out of 56, 90,460 test results available, 55, 62,211 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 19,909 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 30,398 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,152 in isolation and 1, 20,358 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 66,022 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,879 positive cases, 564 active positive, 26,850 recovered, 465 deaths; Baramulla has 8,462 positive cases, 107 active positive, 8,177 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 8,010 positive cases, 69 active positive, 7,821 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,921 positive cases, 29 active positive, 5,800 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,732 positive cases, 23 active positive, 5,612 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,103 positive cases, 21 active positive, 4,990 recovered, 92 deaths; Bandipora has 4,733 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4659 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,693 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,629 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,758 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,688 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,635 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,569 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,477 positive cases, 211 active positive, 24,887 recovered, 379 deaths; Udhampur has 4,328 positive cases, 10 active positive, 4,261 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,883 positive cases, six active positive, 3,822 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,447 positive cases, seven active positive, 3,376 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,275 positive cases, six active positive, 3,216 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,843 positive cases, two active positive, 2,800 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, one active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,535 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,138 positive cases, three active positive, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,658 positive cases, eight active positive, 1,634 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 28,249 positive cases in J&K, 12,797 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
