Owners of commercial establishments at Sidhra block road | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: The owners of commercial establishments closed by the government today blocked Sidhra bypass road to press the administration to withdraw its order that has left hundreds of youths jobless. Apprehending disruptions of law and order in the area, a heavy contingent of JKP and Paramilitary Forces was deployed. The protesters avoided any kind of mess with the Police and the representatives of the administration. “At a time when educated youths have no opportunities in public as well as in private sector, J&K government forcefully snatching employments from hundreds of the youth not only the owners of commercial establishments but the works employed by the owners have lost the source of their livelihood”, said a protestor, adding that they have relevant documents to run their business. “Unfortunately, the authorities are not listening to us. Even, they as per law never served us notice. On the basis of oral order by the authorities, we knocked the door of the Court for stay. After securing a stay, we tried to meet Deputy Commissioner Jammu, JMC authorities, JDA authorities were willing to listen us”, they said. They said due to no response from the authorities, they were forced to block the road. The Revenue Officers present on spot assured the protestors that no one would be victimized. “The process of demarcation will take place from Monday. The genuine owners no need to fear, but those who have illegally occupied the area have to be vacated from here”, said the officer, pacifying the angry protestors. |
