Baramulla, Apr 2: Security forces on Friday launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the North Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said.
They said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO at main town Pattan on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway early this morning.
All roads leading to about six localities in the town were closed and exit points closed, they said adding later house-to-house searches were launched.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they added.
Security forces have intensified CASO in different parts of the Baramulla district after militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) killed two councillors and a police constable at Sopore recently.
