SRINAGAR, Apr 2: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness unprecedented hike in Corona Virus cases with 517 fresh infections being reported in past 24 hours. The death toll figure crossed the 2,000 mark and reached 2,003 following five fresh deaths with the number of positive cases being 1, 31,938. Srinagar district reported 173 new cases including 46 travelers followed by Budgam district 88 cases, Baramulla district 86 cases, Jammu district 62 cases including 14 travelers, Kulgam district 21 cases, Bandipora and Kathua districts 14 cases each, Kupwara and Anantnag districts 12 cases each, Ganderbal district nine cases, Rajouri district seven cases, Doda district six cases, Pulwama district four cases, Samba and Ramban districts three cases each, Shopian district two cases and Udhampur district one case. Anantnag district reported two deaths followed by one death each in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Udhampur districts. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 517 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 96 from Jammu division and 421 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 31,938. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one from Jammu division and four from Kashmir division. Moreover, 171 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 54 from Jammu division and 117 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 31,938 positive cases, 3,215 are active positive, 1, 26,720 have recovered and 2,003 have died; 738 in Jammu division and 1,265 in Kashmir division. Out of 61, 30,386 test results available, 59, 98,448 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 24,644 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 41,614 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,215 in isolation and 1, 23,890 in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 53,922 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 29,392 positive cases, 1,257 active positive, 27,662 recovered, 473 deaths; Baramulla has 9,010 positive cases, 484 active positive, 8,345 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,322 positive cases, 260 active positive, 7,942 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 6,006 positive cases, 83 active positive, 5,831 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,829 positive cases, 87 active positive, 5,645 recovered, 97 deaths. "Anantnag has 5,206 positive cases, 66 active positive, 5,044 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,782 positive cases, 47 active positive, 4,672 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,732 positive cases, 36 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,869 positive cases, 108 active positive, 2,707 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,653 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,591 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,035 positive cases, 542 active positive, 25,112 recovered, 381 deaths; Udhampur has 4,366 positive cases, 31 active positive, 4,277 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,906 positive cases, 23 active positive, 3,827 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,462 positive cases, 10 active positive, 3,388 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,364 positive cases, 72 active positive, 3,239 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,870 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,807 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,756 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,551 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,162 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,117 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,665 positive cases, seven active positive, 1,642 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 31,938 positive cases in J&K, 13,541 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
