SRINAGAR, Apr 9: Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness unprecedented spike in Corona Virus cases with 808 new cases being reported in past 24 hours. Following the latest cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 36,470; death toll reached 2,023 with four fresh deaths. Srinagar district reported 299 new cases including 47 travelers followed by Jammu district 164 cases, Baramulla district 104 cases, Budgam district 36 cases, Reasi district 33 cases including 21 travelers, Udhampur district 28 cases (all of them being travelers), Anantnag district 23 cases, Kupwara district 22 cases, Kishtwar district 17 cases, Bandipora and Kathua districts 11 cases each, Kulgam district 10 cases, Samba, Rajouri and Doda districts nine cases each, Shopian district eight cases, Ganderbal district seven cases, Pulwama district five cases and Poonch district three cases. Jammu district reported two deaths followed by a death each in Baramulla and Anantnag districts. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 808 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 283 from Jammu division and 525 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 36,470. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported, two from Jammu division and two from Kashmir division. Moreover, 312 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 60 from Jammu division and 252 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 36,470 positive cases, 6,115 are active positive, 1, 28,332 have recovered and 2,023 have died; 747 in Jammu division and 1,276 in Kashmir division. Out of 64, 16,947 test results available, 62, 80,477 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 78,135 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 60,768 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,115 in isolation and 1, 24,839 in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 84,390 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 31,057 positive cases, 2,159 active positive, 28,421 recovered, 477 deaths; Baramulla has 9,540 positive cases, with 757active positive, 8,600 recovered, 183 deaths; Budgam has 8,553 positive cases, 373 active positive, 8,058 recovered, 122 deaths; Pulwama has 6,063 positive cases, 134 active positive, 5,837 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,959 positive cases, 161 active positive, 5,701 recovered, 97 deaths. “Anantnag has 5,328 positive cases, 154 active positive, 5,077 recovered, 97 deaths; Bandipora has 4,870 positive cases, 120 active positive, 4687 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,787 positive cases, 73 active positive, 4,665 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,998 positive cases, 216 active positive, 2,726 recovered, 56 deaths and Shopian has 2,699 positive cases, 59 active positive, 2,600 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,842 positive cases, 1,143 active positive, 25,311 recovered, 388 deaths; Udhampur has 4,571 positive cases, 225 active positive, 4,288 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,946 positive cases, 58 active positive, 3,832 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,491 positive cases, 35 active positive, 3,392 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,475 positive cases, 113 active positive, 3,309 recovered, 53 deaths. “Samba has 2,917 positive cases, 68 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,787 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,734 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,573 positive cases, 36 active positive, 2,511 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,171 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,131 recovered, 23 deaths and Reasi has 1,843 positive cases, 183 active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 36,470 positive cases in J&K, 14,507 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
