DC discusses civic issues of Down Town with Municipal Councilors

DODA, Apr 9: To better understand civic issues of the Doda Township, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vikas Sharma today held an interactive session with the elected members of Municipal Council here in the conference hall of DC office.
During the interaction the members highlighted major issues of the town which includes traffic congestion especially in and around bus stand, delay in tendering of MC works, illegal parking of load carriers, Private buses in Bus stand, unloading of Goods carriers there, immovable Reharis, besides slow pace of work on widening of Pul Doda-Beoli road, dilapidated condition of adjoining roads of town, nuisance caused by stray cattle, dogs and monkeys, permanent posting of JEs and supervisor in MC etc.
The DC sought suggestions from the council to overcome these issues, besides taking stock of the implementation of PMAY-U scheme, My Town My Pride program, functioning of SWMP, besides status of works approved under district capex and languishing.
Regarding decongestion at bus stand, the DC directed the EO MC to draft a site plan covering all the major components including parking of vehicles, rehris etc in coordination with Ex En PWD and to submit the same to his office to facilitate comprehensive planning.
The Executive Officer was further directed to issue licence to all the functioning Reharis with identification mark and make roster of the owners to station their Reharis inside the bus stand on periodical basis. He further directed the EO to immediately take out all the load carriers selling their goods in bus-stand to resolve the problem of traffic jam and inconvenience to the commuters.
Regarding ongoing civic works, the DC directed the EO MC to ensure regular monitoring and supervision, besides asking him to stay in regular touch with the executive agencies for the timely initiation of tendering process.
The EO was further asked to direct the concerned JEs of housing board to station at Doda town twice in a week for the speedy completion of ongoing PMAY-U houses.
Moreover the DC asked the CPO Doda to get the latest factual position of the title verification of land pending in tehsildar Office from the ACR Doda and to submit the same to the DC office.
With regard to nuisance caused by stray dogs, cattle and monkeys, the DC asked the planning section to call for a meeting with the concerned authorities so that a viable plan was devised to deal with the issue.
Among others present in the meeting were President MC Ved Prakash Gupta; Vice President MC, Mazhar Ul Haq Munshi, CPO, Parshotam Kumar; besides other Councillors.
