GDC Kathua organizes inter-college debate competition

KATHUA, Apr 16: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua in collaboration with Prof DK Rampal Memorial Trust Jammu organized Inter-college Debate Competition on the topic “Is Cyber a Boon for Young Generation?” today. All the SOPs pertaining to Covid-19 Pandemic were followed during the event. Prof RD Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor JU was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme began with the lightening of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by the formal welcome address by Prof Assa Ram Sharma, Principal GDC Kathua who outlined the purpose and structure of the event.
The dignitaries shared their views on the cyber world. They stressed upon the proper utilization of technology while keeping a balance between the real and the virtual world. Prof RD Sharma complimented the organizers for hosting the debate competition in memory of a visionary academician Prof Ravender Rampal.
Speaking on the occasion Prof RD Sharma called late Prof DK Rampal, a towering personality as a teacher whose contribution can never be forgotten. He also highlighted the vision of the Trust. He congratulated the trust for organizing an academic event of this magnitude.
Students from different colleges of Jammu division expressed their views on various aspects of the topic and were adjudged by the judges Prof. Anoop Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Gupta and Dr. Rachna Devi on various parameters. 1st position was bagged by Lakshita Sharma of GDC Purmandal whereas Naman Dogra of GDC Kathua and Jahanvi Dubey of Govt. MAM College got the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Prof. RD Sharma, Prof. Assa Ram Sharma, Dr Vinay Rampal and others distributed the certificates and cash prizes to all the participants.
On the occasion, a cultural programme was also presented by the students of GDC Kathua with full enthusiasm.
