Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 16: Due to lackadaisical approaches of the district administration and civil body the residents of the lane number 4 of Dharap craving for basic amenities, as no one is taking care of issues they are confronting with day today life.
The residents informed Early Times that the roads, streets and lanes in the area are in the worst condition. “We have raised our suffering with our elected representatives, but no decisive steps have been taken for sustained development of the area.
Most of the works are taken at the end of the financial year. Due to heavy rush of works at that period of the time, quality of each work is compromised”, they said, adding that it was the main reason behind deplorable conditions of roads, streets and lanes of the area.
They said that civic services of the area are also out of order, as one can easily see scattered garbage in the area. “Though, the civil body has pressed many high-end machines for collecting garbage, uncovered garbage gathering vehicles are enough to fail these machines. You cannot drive just behind a vehicle carrying garbage on the road, there are chances that the filth will fall on you or your vehicle”, they said.
They said that a vehicle that collects the garbage from a point to dump it at a designated place, goes strewing the filth on the road.
“If the road in your area is not in good condition, the filth that falls from the vehicle increases in manyfold”, they said.
The resident advised the administration that there should be proper planning right from building roads to taking away garbage from one place to another. “If all pros and cons are taken into consideration we will lead towards the sustained development and also a crore of rupees annually could be saved”, they said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the lane number 4 Dharap is a part of the Gandhi Nagar constituency the heart of the city but the prevailing scenario of the area is enough to expose administration’s claims.
Munish Gupta, Editor-in-Chief Early Times has urged upon the LG administration for redressal of the problems being faced by the residents of Gandhi Nagar constituency. He said that people of the Gandhi Nagar constituency are feeling abandoned, as their problems are not being solved by the administration despite being highlighted at various levels.
