Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 16: The onus of private hospitals and other health facilities has increased manifold in fight against the COVID-19 contagion especially after the unprecedented surge in new cases has mounted pressure on existing government health facilities.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta in a handout issued here on Friday. He said looking into the gravity of the situation on account of second wave of the aforesaid viral infection it is necessary that the private health facilities should be roped in to supplement the combat against coronavirus.
"There is dire need that private hospitals adapt to the specific challenges to take the contagion head on as this can prove very significant in overcoming the fatigue of one and all in the government hospitals facing the disease persistently since its inception in the first quarter of the year 2020", he said adding that in this manner the private health facilities can be of great help to augment measures in preventing and controlling the disease which is proving more dangerous after advent of new mutants of this virus. He also laid emphasis on following the SOPs and guidelines religiously without any lethargy as these are of prime importance.
The senior BJP functionary urged the government to revamp the whole set-up to get prepared for any kind of eventuality in case the situation worsens in the coming days. He said that if timely action is not taken and adequate measures to prevent and control infection are delayed the difficulties may amplify.
"To meet the emerging demands in both the health facilities viz government and private, all staff members, irrespective of their hospital, departmental and individual duties, need to be involved in the emergency planning process so that they can distinguish between their routine and their emergency responsibilities and can better contribute to combat the pandemic", he said, adding that J&K administration should take proactive steps so that the infection may not spiral in the UT.
