Stresses for implementation of welfare policies in letter & spirit | Kavinder felicitates IAS topper | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 18: Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister today advised young IAS toppers to treat their profession as a mission to bridge the rich-poor, and urban-rural divides and be proactive change agents in building a “new India.” While greeting Gurtaj Singh, son of Jatinder Singh, Director CAPD, who has qualified the IAS exam at 6th rank, the senior BJP leader said that India has not progressed as much as it should have. He said countries that achieved independence after India, and faced greater resource constraints than India, have touched new heights of development. Kavinder emphasized that during the last more than six years since the Modi government has taken over the reins of Central Government, the parameters of Governance have risen high and now the accountability, transparency, public expectations and media scrutiny are much higher. He told the topper that he is entering the services at one of the best times in the history of post-independent India, when under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India was on the ascent and would soon be a frontline nation of the world. Urging the young IAS topper to keep learning, thinking and innovating, Kavinder said “good governance is what we need today”. He stressed that governance has to be lean but efficient with a system that is transparent and responds to people’s needs and aspirations. It has to be a system that delivers and creates conditions for growth and development. Kavinder said the legislature may make a number of policies and laws, but ultimately it is the actual implementation of those policies on ground that matters. A government will be remembered by the delivery of the services, he underlined. and said that it was the duty of civil servants to ensure that people get their entitlements without delay. |
