JKPCC expresses concern over handling of Covid situation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president G A Mir today chaired a meeting of senior leaders to discuss the current covid-19 situation in Jammu and Kashmir as the covid-19 crisis has badly hit the country with people dying due to oxygen shortage. The meeting expressed grave concern over its handling of the situation by the Union government which has failed to visualise the magnitude of the Covid-II and also took stock of the facilities in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also discussed the manner and management of the function to celebrate the National Panchyat Raj Day tomorrow in view of the 28th anniversary of the implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendment of the constitution in the country. The Modi government and BJP were contesting the assembly elections on war footing while the situation took a very serious and ugly turn and today the country is number one in terms of cases in the world with lack of basic necessity for dealing the pandemic . The current quantum of vaccinations in Jammu and Kashmir is too low to nearly over 13 lacs in the population of over 1.30 crores and the UT administration should make all arrangements to deal with the future situation on this front, as already acute shortage of the oxygen was witnessed in the premier Jammu hospitals besides other lack of required facilities. After lapse of one year of the current pandemic, it is expected that there should not be any shortcomings in the necessary arrangements and facilities to face the challenge but still there are reports of shortage of beds and the days to come may be very difficult to the people. The government should do everything possible to provide the required facilities to the people in Jammu and Kashmir itself.
