Solve problems of residents at an earliest, Munish Gupta urges LG | Shergarh Lane no. 2 residents resent poor civic services | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: The residents of Shergarh Lane Number 2 of Gandhi Nagar constituency have expressed concern over poor civic amenities in their area and appealed the concerned authorities to take appropriate action to address the problems. While sharing their plight, the residents said that given the worst Corona crisis with infections spread with an alarming speed across the country but in the heart of the Jammu city and in posh localities, the civic authorities have been failed to keep the areas clean. “On one hand Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has repeatedly been assuring to the nation that all possible requirements will be filled to fight Corona virus but it is duty of the state/UT administrations to use available resources to keep cities and towns clean”, said a local resident, adding that it appeared that the authorities have been busy to grab media attention. The residents further said that the authorities have been making tall claims in the media sphere by sharing self-praising long press communiqués, patting their own backs but the ground realities speaks quite contrary to the image created over the media sphere. “The authorities have been using the PR teams to build their own as well as department’s rosy image but it totally contradicts the ground realities, which itself expose the failure of authorities to provide basic amenities to the masses”, they said. The locals of Shergarh Lane Number 2 further said that on one hand Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha on his part has been leaving no stone unturned to serve the people of J&K but the bureaucracy is widening the gap between the LG and the public. “Lieutenant Governor has lot of engagements and cannot be accessible to everyone but public is fully dependent on the media to convey its sufferings with the authorities, especially the Raj Bhawan and we are very grateful to the media, which is continuously highlighting our burning issues”, said the residents. They further said that they were craving for basic amenities and it was the sole responsibility of the government to provide them all the facilities. “Despite being part of Gandhi Nagar constituency, we are living a primitive life since the basic amenities are denied to us”, they said, adding that administration if wants to defeat the Corona, it has to launch a full-fledged drive in the area areas of Jammu city and its peripheries. Supporting the genuine demands of the residents of Shergarh, Editor-in-Chief Early Times, Munish Gupta said that the administration should take immediate cognizance of issues raised by the residents to avoid the disaster, in the form of COVID-19. “It is very serious problem that despite timely preventive measures adopted by the governments, number of COVID-19 positive cases is increasing like wild fire”, he added and appealed the LG to pass instructions to the authorities to redress the grievances of the residents. |
