For Directorate of Health, Kargil and Leh are districts of Kashmir

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 28: Even as Ladakh became a separate Union Territory on August 5, 2019, for the Directorate of Health Kashmir, Leh and Kargil continue to be districts of Kashmir province.
In times of Covid second wave when people look ahead for genuine information regarding health sector on official websites, the Directorate of Health Kashmir on link “https://www.dhskashmir.org/health_institutions.php” is no less than a shock.
Under the title “Health Institutions in Kashmir Division”, on the official website shows that Kashmir has as many as nine district hospitals including one each in Kargil and Leh districts of Ladakh.
Interestingly, the website seems to have been updated after the abrogation of the so-called special status of Jammu and Kashmir as the top most portion of the webpage does refer to Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory.
Despite strict instructions from New Delhi to update the information on the official websites, some of the government offices continue show “laziness” through such errors on the official websites.
Official sources said unless the government constitutes taskforce to ensure proper upgradation of all its official websites, the problem will continue to persist.
Since the historic decision of the split of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, the daily Early Times has several times highlighted non-upgradation of the official websites.
“What real information can you get from the official website which shows Ladakh as part of Kashmir. This is a serious lapse on the part of the concerned,” said an official in the know of the matter.
“A government website is not supposed to promote any fake news by means of grossly wrong information which belittles the importance of the historic decisions as taken by the Modi government,” the official added on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted a senior official in the Health Department downplayed the matter saying it may have happened due to oversight.
He, however, said the matter would be looked into and errors if any would be rectified.
