Corona wreaks havoc in April; recovery rate drops from 96 % to 84%
237 deaths in 28 days; positive cases jump to 24313 from 2293

Jammu, Apr 28: With single-day highest 30 Covid deaths in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours, total COVID fatalities in J&K reached 2227 with 237 deaths in the month of April only. In the month of the J&K has recorded eight COVID deaths, which is an alarming and warning signal for the authorities.
On March 31, the death toll in J&K was 1990 including 1255 from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 735 from the Jammu division. During the last 28 days this number has jumped to 2227 including 1372 from Valley and 855 from Jammu division.
Same is the surge in positive cases, during the last 28 days. On March 31 total active positive cases in J&K were 2293 including 615 in the Jammu division and 1678 in Kashmir Valley. These numbers have rapidly been jumped to 24313 in the month of April including 9518 active cases in Jammu and 14795 in the Valley.
The recovery rate in J&K has dropped with the menace rate from 96.72 percent to 84.32 during the last 28 days. On March 31, 96.72 percent of the total positive cases were recovered but this number has dropped to 84.32 percent on April 28.
As far as deaths are concerned, Srinagar district has recorded 524 COVID deaths followed by Jammu with 459 fatalities.
As reported earlier by this newspaper, the biggest task before the authorities is to control the mortality rate in Jammu.
During the last 10 days, the Jammu region has been witnessing a spike in mortality. Jammu province alone contributes over 40 percent of the total positive cases in J&K. After Srinagar district, Jammu is number two as far as positive cases are concerned.
