Closure of OPDs: Kavinder asks Govt to depute specialists in PHCs
5/2/2021 12:03:10 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 1: Taking note of people facing tremendous difficulties on account of closure of OPD services in the tertiary hospitals, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Friday appealed government to take services of specialist doctors in the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and other healthcare facilities in and around Jammu to provide succor to the ailing population.
The senior party functionary sought a broader roadmap for deputing the specialists from various faculties to provide comprehensive services to the patients as they are being denied such services in tertiary hospitals on account of changes that took place due to ruthless contagion noval coronavirus.
Disseminating information on the healthcare setup of the UT, he said that under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) several healthcare institutions came into existence like Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Urban Health Centres (UHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Sub Centres across the Union Territory.
“This kind of edifice was raised for improving health services in the erstwhile State of J&K”, he said, adding that J&K Health Department also endeavoured to build some PHCs which were supposed to work round the clock to provide 24X7 healthcare facilities to people. He said that appointment of specialist doctors in the aforesaid PHCs will be the biggest philanthropic act as far as providing succor to the common people of the UT is concerned.
The senior BJP leader anticipated that J&K Administration will consider his suggestion on priority and sooner than later a mechanism will be evolved to send the top brass of doctors to peripheral PHCs and allied health centres for proving that the profession of doctors is noble in real sense.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta condoled the untimely demise of senior journalist of Aaj Tak TV Channel, Rohit Sardana.
In his message, the senior BJP leader asked the scribe fraternity to remain extra vigilant against the cruel virus corona which has already caused much damage. He said that journalists are bound to move out to gather news but at the same time they should follow the SOPs issued by the experts to avoid virus attack. He also prayed for the peace to departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear with the irreparable loss.
