SRINAGAR, May 1: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported record fresh cases of Corona Virus and record virus related deaths in the past 24 hours. While 47 people lost their lives to the virus 3,832 new cases of virus were reported today.
Jammu district reported as many as 18 COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district 10 deaths, Poonch district three deaths, two deaths each in Baramulla, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts and a death each in Budgam, Kupwara, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Doda, Ramban & Reasi districts.
Srinagar district reported 1084 fresh cases followed by Jammu district 504 cases, Baramulla 309 cases, Budgam district 291 cases, Anantnag district 286 cases, Kulgam district 221 cases, Udhampur district 141 cases, Samba district 137 cases, Kupwara district 122 cases, Kathua district 120 cases, Rajouri district 96 cases, Ganderbal district 94 cases, Bandipora district 77 cases, Pulwama district 70 cases, Poonch district 64 cases, Ramban district 60 cases, Reasi district 52 cases, Shopian district 47 cases, Doda district 42 cases and Kishtwar district 15 cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,832 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,231from Jammu division and 2,601 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 79,915. Also 47 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 30 from Jammu division and 17 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 1,801 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 689 from Jammu division and 1,112 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 79,915 positive cases, 30,343 are active positive, 1, 47,242 have recovered and 2,330 have died; 919 in Jammu division and 1,411 in Kashmir division.
Out of 73, 12,926 test results available, 71, 33,011 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 14,821 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 95,997 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 30,343 in isolation and 1, 20,996 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 65,155 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 44,522 positive cases, 8,872 active positive, 35,104 recovered, 546 deaths; Baramulla has 13,268 positive cases, 2,484 active positive, 10,585 recovered, 199 deaths; Budgam has 10,912 positive cases, 1,609 active positive, 9,171 recovered, 132 deaths; Anantnag has 7,285 positive cases, 1,547 active positive, 5,627 recovered, 111 deaths; Pulwama has 7,233 positive cases, 973 active positive, 6,159 recovered, 101 deaths.
“Kupwara has 7,189 positive cases, 1,009 active positive, 6,078 recovered, 102 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,536 positive cases, 526 active positive, 4,960 recovered, 50 deaths; Bandipora has 5,531 positive cases, 452 active positive, 5,015 recovered, 64 deaths; Kulgam has 4,577 positive cases, 1,336 active positive, 3,177 recovered, 64 deaths and Shopian has 3,107 positive cases, 363 active positive, 2,702 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 35,123 positive cases, 6,201 active positive, 8,426 recovered, 496 deaths; Udhampur has 6,193 positive cases, 693 active positive, 5,433 recovered, 67 deaths; Rajouri has 4,973 positive cases, 981 active positive, 3,926 recovered, 66 deaths; Kathua has 4,652 positive cases, 601 active positive, 3,986 recovered, 65 deaths; Doda has 3,846 positive cases, 305 active positive, 3,474 recovered, 67 deaths.
“Samba has 3,778 positive cases, 857 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 54 deaths; Reasi has 3,510 positive cases, 632 active positive, 2,859 recovered, 19 deaths; Poonch has 3,020 positive cases, 396 active positive, 2,587 recovered, 37 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,974 positive cases, 139 active positive, 2,813 recovered, 22 deaths and Ramban has 2,686 positive cases, 367 active positive, 2,293 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that out of 1, 79,915 positive cases in J&K, 19,613have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
