Modi answerable to nation for naked dance of death in the country: Harsh Dev
JKNPP Chairman on dharna alleging govt failure in controlling corona
5/2/2021 12:03:47 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 1: Accusing the ruling party at the centre of persistently indulging in self adulation, self praise and self celebration rather than taking appropriate measures during the past 15 months to protect the citizens from deadly coronavirus, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP and former Minister has squarely held the central govt responsible for the catastrophe that the nation is confronted with today. With nearly four lakh new infections around 5,000 deaths being recorded everyday in the country, the situation has literally and figuratively gone out of control.
Does it not indicate the failure of those indulging in incessant chest thumping and giving slogans of New India. Do our rulers not owe an explanation to the people of the county who catapulted them to power under the belief that they would usher an era of ‘Achhe Din’ and good governance as assured by them, questioned Singh.
He was holding a dharna against failure of the govt in preventing the naked dance of death in the country due to uncontrolled pandemic.
Singh said while other countries worked overnight for strengthening their respective health institutions and related infrastructure, setting up oxygen plants, new hospitals and augmentation of existing health facilities, Modi was indulging in “Taali bajao, Thali bajao” campaigns. Shortly thereafter, he started exporting oxygen, Hydrochloroquine, ventilators and other medical equipments needed by pandemic affected patients loudly proclaiming that he was giving the ‘corona mantra’ to the world. He further started offering and exporting millions of doses of vaccines to other countries in January, 2021 declaring that it produced more than sufficient for its population to be protected. And three months later, the Modi’s mantra proved to be a nightmare for his own people. The insensitivity of the Modi govt is reflected not only by the indiscreet export of medicines equipments and vaccines out of India which needed it most but by its political ambitions and flare for power politics. The PM and his cabinet colleagues were holding gigantic rallies in West Bengal in their desperation to conquer the states that had been eluding them politically. And while he continued to give the slogans of ‘do gaz ki doori’ elsewhere, his rallies witnessed gatherings of thousands of people without masks. Even the belated decision on Kumbh Mela gatherings took a heavy toll of lives with none taking the responsibility.
Accusing further the BJP regime of giving priority in vaccine distribution to politically favourable states, Singh said that the PM seems to have abdicated his responsibility as a head of govt of the entire country and his duties towards federated states. He claimed that at the current rate of vaccination, wherein hardly 10% of the population has received a dose of vaccine, the herd immunity as parroted by the govt would be impossible to be achieved before 2023. Should the nation wait till then, questioned Singh.
