Early Times Report

Jammu , May 3: Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta raised serious concern over the problems being faced by the common masses due to alleged callous attitude of the administration.
In a statement issued today, Kavinder Gupta said that it seems that the Union Territory administration is taking decisions of far reaching impact without any proper assessment of the ground situation.
The former Dy Chief Minister specifically highlighted the problems being faced by the patients with various ailments who are required to be administered oxygen at home on a regular basis besides the issue of small traders who have been worst hit by the lockdown decision.
Kavinder said that though there is a necessity to take certain tough measures to stop black marketing of oxygen cylinders to ensure smooth supply of oxygen to COVID-19 patients but it should not be at the cost of those patients who require oxygen at home for other ailments. He said that he has been receiving repeated calls from the persons across the City of Temples that they are unable to fetch oxygen for their ailing family members who require it regularly at home. This is due to the lockdown and moreover due to the officers of the Revenue Department deputed by the government at the oxygen manufacturing units who are insisting that oxygen is meant for Covid patients only thus subjecting those genuinely in need of oxygen for the ailing patients at home to unnecessary harassment. This has put the lives of all the patients requiring oxygen at home in jeopardy and the UT administration needs to immediately address this most vital issue on topmost priority.
The senior BJP leader reiterated that the government should take people-friendly decisions at this critical juncture only after proper assessment of the ground situation.
