EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 3: Though the number of Corona positive cases in Jammu province remains low but the higher death rate raised questions over the number of tests conducted in the province as death rate accounts for around three percent, while in Kashmir province accounts for merely 0.61 percent.
In the last few days, the number of Corona related deaths in the districts of Jammu province has recorded a higher number but those found Corona positive in the province remained low, while on the other hand the number of Corona related deaths in Kashmir province remained low but the number of positive cases was high.
On Tuesday, the total number of positive cases in Jammu province was 1294, while the number of Covid related deaths was 35 while in Kashmir province the total positive cases detected in the districts of Kashmir province were 2439 but the deaths were 16.
Similarly on 2nd May also, the total number of positive cases in Jammu province were 1150, while total number of deaths were 28, which accounted for 2.43 percent of the Covid cases, while in Kashmir province the total number of positive cases were 2421 while the Covid-19 related deaths in the Kashmir province was 13, which accounted for 0.53 percent. The ratio between the number of deaths as well as positive cases detected in both the provinces point towards the fact that testing in Jammu province is lower while in Kashmir province testing is much higher, a doctor pleading anonymity said, adding that though the Corona testing is mostly free but despite than less number of people have been tested in Jammu province. “The administration as well as doctors should create awareness in Jammu province for mass testing so that large number of testing should be done and positive cases can be found at initial stages and can be treated at appropriate time so that precious lives could be saved”, a doctor pleading anonymity said.
