JAMMU, May 3: Government College for Education (GCOE) organized a webinar on the topic “Drug Abuse: A silent pandemic” under Manodarpan initiative of Govt. of India.
The key resource person of the webinar was Dr Rajesh Chandel, HOD Psychiatry in Govt. Medical College, Kathua. Dr Chandel highlighted use, misuse and abuse of drugs and its prevalence among youth of India.
The speaker also gave detailed information regarding causal factors responsible for addictive behavior. Most importantly treatment available for drug addiction was discussed in detail. More than sixty students and faculty members were benefitted by this webinar. Dr Kulwinder Kour, Principal GCOE addressed the students and motivated them to be a part of such awareness programmes. The session was followed by interactive session wherein various queries of students were responded by Dr Chandel. The programme was organized by Prof Vinay Lata, Convenor Psychological Counselling Cell and Dr Mandeep Singh, Convenor IQAC. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sarita Dogra. |
