Former J-K governor Jagmohan dies at 94, admin calls 3-day state mourning | | | Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan Malhotra passed away in New Delhi late last night. The two-time Governor of the erstwhile state and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party was 94-years-old.
The J-K administration on Tuesday announced three days of state mourning “as a mark of respect” for Malhotra, better known simply as Jagmohan, who is infamous in Kashmir for his role as the Governor during the late 1980s and briefly in 1990.
“As a mark of respect to Jagmohan, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who passed away on 03.05.2021, the Government has decided that three days State mourning shall be observed from 04.05.2021 (Tuesday) to 06.05.2021 (Thursday),” reads a government order, as per local news agency Global News Service. “The National Flag shall fly at half-mast during the State mourning on all buildings and places where it is flown regularly; and there shall be no official entertainment/function during the State mourning.” |
