JAMMU, May 18: Forest Department conducted an anti-encroachment drive in village Sunjwan Forest Compartment No. 4/C and demolished one structure, retrieved 7 kanals of forest land. The operation was conducted by a forest team under the supervision of Alok Maurya, DFO Jammu. Alok Maurya DFO Jammu, informed that subsequent to the completion of eviction proceeding and passing of eviction order under Indian Forest Act, Forest team led by Salamat Ali Incharge Block Officer, Chowadhi, Maqbool Hussain Incharge Block along with anti-encroachment team along with other forest field staff have demolished one illegal structure on Forest Land in Forest Compartment No. 4/C of Chowadhi Block which was covered by the encroachers. In the operation, an illegal structure was demolished and 7 Kanals of forest area was retrieved. Further, a request was also made to the Police for lodging of FIR against the culprits. The senior officers including Mohit Gera, Pr.Chief Conservator of Forest, (HOEF), MK Ramesh Kumar Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu and CF East Circle Samuel Changkija have appreciated the efforts of the officials and directed to take all the measures to prevent encroachment on forest land.
