DM Kupwara asks tehsildars to stop movement of Covid positive patients | | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report
KUPWARA, May 18: Following reports of ‘unnecessary movement’ of home-isolated Covid-19 patients District Magistrate Kupwara Imam-ud-Din has communicated with all Tehsildars concerned to identify the offenders for initiation of action. A communiqué addressed to the Tehsildars states, “It has been reported that the patients in the home isolation are coming out unnecessarily from their houses which may lead to the spread of diseases or create panic among the general public. In this context, you are directed to ask the concerned Lumberdars Chowkidars/Panches/ Sarpanches to report the name and address of such persons, violating the SOPS/guidelines laid down in this regard.” “Further all BDCs/ DDCs be requested to render similar support in curbing such menace, so that further action can be initiated against the persons involved in spread the pandemic”, said the communiqué. Meanwhile there are reports from different parts of North Kashmir that people are facing various difficulties while visiting health centers. There are also reports that no proper attention is paid to the disabled patients. Bashir Ahmad (name changed) from Drugmulla area said, “Few days back we took our father to the nearby health center in Kupwara for treatment, however no senior doctors was present there and he was treated by the internees and the situation is same in other parts of North Kashmir”. We do understand that, doctors are putting their lives to risk, but at the same time senior doctors should treat the patients so that they will not suffer any more, said a local resident. Sources while quoting an intern said, “Due to Covid-19 we are putting ourselves in a hazardous situation but we are being given medical procedures and training, but despite that it is out right to perform the duties although we are students. Fact of the matter is that in view of the surge of Covid pandemic and to meet the demand of increased manpower, the senior doctors in all medical colleges/hospitals have been asked to visit hospital and get first hand appraisal of patients. Notably recently a top rank official of health and medical education department directed the senior faculty to visit the hospital for treatment of patients, as there has been a surge in Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir. |
