Amid Covid crisis, Kashmir prefers picnics!
5/19/2021 12:16:45 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 18: Even as the nation is witnessing a major crises and Jammu and Kashmir is equally badly affected, many Kashmiris are busy going to picnics. While hundreds are battling for life and dozens dying in the Union Territory, many in Kashmir have been caught going to picnics.
Scores of pictures had come on social media exposing how insensitive the people are becoming towards the pandemic, which has taken a heavy toll on humanity.
The situation of picnics has gone so “out of control” that police were left with no options but to initiate action.
Sources said the Police have decided to take strict action against those who throng at tourist spots like Gulmarg, Tangmarg, Pahalgam, and Nilnag.
Sources said for the last few days, scores of people were visiting Nilnag in Central Kashmir's Budgam district in particular prompting the police to raid the spot.
Sources said shortly after receiving information about presence of people at the spot, the police launched a drive preventing people from visiting Nilnag in wake of the Covid curfew.
Sources said the police have been left with no option but to book any further people who go to picnics in Kashmir amid humanitarian crises.
“Actually the people should have been sensitive enough to avoid picnics in times of tragedy but as people lack that sense of humanity so a strict police action becomes a must,” said a college teacher in Kashmir on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile police have been appealing the people not to venture out of their homes without any emergency.
In the last few days police have registered dozens of cases against people who have been violating the Covid curfew in Kashmir.
Scores of vehicles have also been seized for violation of norms put in place for public safety.
