Kathua records 82% Covid recovery rate, Bed occupancy rate on decline: DC

KATHUA, May 21: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav today said that recovery rate of Covid positive patients in the district has improved to 82% while a steep decline has been reported in Hospital Bed occupancy rate in the past few days.
Briefing the media persons about the Covid scenario in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that at present the total positive cases in the district stands at 1311, which shows a considerable decrease from 1413 reported two days back.
He said that 122 positive patients are under treatment in different Covid Hospitals of the District, while 148 people are admitted in Covid Care Centres where all necessary Medicare facilities are being given to the patients.
Regarding add-on capacity of the Oxygen Generation Plant at GMC Kathua, the DC disclosed that the civil work of 750 LPM capacity has already been started. With the operation of the new Oxygen Plant the Oxygenated Beds would be greatly enhanced in coming days, he added. A total of 36 Oxygen Concentrators of different capacities have been received and utilised in Covid Isolation wards, while another 25 Oxygen Concentrators are being procured to increase the Oxygenated bed strength.
Rahul Yadav said in compliance to the directions of Lt. Governor, 5 Bedded Covid Care centres have been established in 50 Panchayat halqas of the district. He said the order for necessary medical infrastructure required for Panchayat Covid Care Centres has been placed to Medical Supply Corporation.
The district is maintaining 100% distribution of Covid Management Kits to all Covid patients who are advised to be in Home Isolation, informed the DC.
To enable them to make two ends meet amid the lockdown, as many as 5510 Registered Construction Workers are being provided Rs 1000 each as Covid assistance through Labour department, the DC added.
Rahul Yadav informed that 86% MGNREGA workers were being provided wages within 15 days time and directions are being given to ensure 100% disbursement within stipulated time.
The process for disbursement of pensions under different social security schemes of the Social Welfare department is also being expedited to provide relief to the beneficiaries, he said.
The DC said administration has roped in NGOs and civil society to mobilise people to go for vaccination and follow Covid appropriate behaviour.
