SRINAGAR, May 21: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed appreciable dip in COVID-19 deaths with 43 people dying in the past 24 hours; 67 people had died due to the virus on Thursday. Following 3,848 fresh cases the positive cases reached 2, 63,905 with the death toll being 3,465. Srinagar district reported 598 cases followed by Jammu district 401 cases, Budgam district 344 cases, Baramulla district 320 cases, Anantnag district 303 cases, Pulwama district 224 cases, Kupwara district 204 cases, Ramban district 201 cases, Samba district 163 cases, Udhampur district 160 cases, Rajouri district 155 cases, Kathua district 130 cases, Ganderbal district 125 cases, Kulgam district 121 cases, Bandipora district 105 cases, Reasi district 96 cases, Shopian district 62 cases, Doda district 58 cases, Poonch district 48 cases and Kishtwar district 30 cases. Jammu district reported 15 Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district seven deaths, Baramulla district four deaths, Kathua district three deaths, Udhampur, Poonch, Reasi, Pulwama and Kupwara district two deaths each, Rajouri, Doda, Samba and Kulgam districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,848 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,442 from Jammu division and 2,406 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 63,905. Also 43 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 27 from Jammu division and 16 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 4,466 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,730 from Jammu division and 2,736 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 63,905 positive cases, 49,893 are active positive, 2, 10,547 have recovered and 3,465 have died; 1,639 in Jammu division and 1,826 in Kashmir division. Out of 81, 40,036 test results available, 78, 76,131 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 20, 08,800 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,479 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 49,893 in isolation and 1, 32,220 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 48,743 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 61,138 positive cases, 6,884 active positive, 53,532 recovered, 722 deaths; Baramulla has 19,376 positive cases, 2,950 active positive, 16,192 recovered, 234 deaths; Budgam has 18,000 positive cases, 4,409 active positive, 13,430 recovered, 161 deaths; Anantnag district has 12,800 positive cases, 4,503 active positive, 8,154 recovered, 143 deaths; Pulwama has 11,596 positive cases, 2,383 active positive, 9,064 recovered, 149 deaths. “Kupwara has 10,216 positive cases, 1,838 active positive, 8,246 recovered, 132 deaths; Kulgam has 8,590 positive cases, 3,006 active positive, 5,495 recovered, 89 deaths; Bandipora has 7,657 positive cases, 1,146 active positive, 6,429 recovered, 82 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,526 positive cases, 1,122 active positive, 6,339 recovered, 65deaths and Shopian has 4,854 positive cases, 1,051active positive, 3,754 recovered, 49 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 46,750 positive cases, 7,519 active positive, 38,312 recovered, 919 deaths; Udhampur has 9,836 positive cases, 1,641active positive, 8,085 recovered, 110 deaths; Rajouri has 8,778 positive cases, 3,377 active positive, 5,252 recovered 149 deaths; Kathua has 8,050 positive cases, 1,282 active positive, 6,656 recovered, 112 deaths; Samba has 6,235 positive cases, 2,371 active positive, 3,770 recovered, 94 deaths. “Doda has 5,032 positive cases, 1,077active positive, 3,876 recovered, 79 deaths; Reasi has 4,823 positive cases, 633 active positive, 4,159 recovered, 31 deaths; Poonch has 4,616 positive cases, 1,194 active positive, 3,349 recovered, 73 deaths; Ramban has 4,310 positive cases, 1,130 active positive, 3,135 recovered, 45 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,722 positive cases, 377 active positive, 3,318 recovered, 27 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 63,905 positive cases, 21,189 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
