Influential in Kashmir given anti-Covid jabs at home
Violation of norms
5/22/2021 12:42:15 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 21: In violation of the norms, some of the influential people have been administered Covid vaccines allegedly at their homes.
Sources said the allegations came to notice of the government after some of the influential including politicians got vaccines allegedly at their homes.
A senior doctor in the government told Early Times that under no circumstances can a Covid injection be given at home.
He said there were central government guidelines which make it mandatory for the concerned to hold the immunization drive only at the prescribed clinics.
“There are issues linked to the injection due to which the injection cannot be administered at home. There is a need of anti allergic kit, para medics, an ambulance and a doctor at call and thus given the sensitivity the injection has to be given at prescribed healthcare center only,” the doctor said on the condition of anonymity.
He said violation of the norms amounts to criminal act and police can file FIR in such cases.
“The government must order an inquiry because if the allegations are found true it’s a serious violation of central government guidelines and action under the norms will be necessary,” the official said.
It is pertinent to mention that elsewhere in the country, the government had booked a senior politician who had got the injection done at his residence. When contacted a senior official said no such complaint has been brought to their notice. He said if there was any such complaint the concerned should be informed and strict action will be initiated against the offenders.
It’s not for the first time that such complaints have surfaced in the country in the last few months. In April, a BJP MLA from Bihar came under sharp criticism for taking the COVID-19 vaccine jab at his home, in a serious violation of coronavirus protocol.
Ashok Singh, the BJP lawmaker, said that he would not visit any hospital or vaccination centre to get vaccinated against coronavirus but called doctors at his residence.
In a picture, a woman healthcare worker was seen administering a vaccine dose to the BJP lawmaker at his residence.
Earlier in March, a political controversy erupted after Karnataka minister and BJP leader BC Patil took COVID-19 vaccine shot at his home at Hirekerur.
