Why depute doctors from Srinagar hospitals to peripheral COVID centers, asks Omar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, May 21: Questioning the decision of J&K administration to depute teams of doctors from three Srinagar hospital to peripheral COVID Care Centres in Kashmir, former chief minister and NC vice-president Omar Abdullah asked if these institutions have extra doctors and personnel to be spared for these teams. Abdullah said from all accounts doctors and other staff in these hospitals are already stretched to breaking point. “Do any of the three institutions mentioned here actually have extra doctors & personnel who can be spared for these teams? From all accounts doctors & other staff in these hospitals are already stretched to breaking point,” the former chief minister wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. He was reacting to reports that government has decided to depute teams from S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, SKIMS Bemina and Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar to peripheral COVID Care Centers in Kashmir. Meanwhile, strict restrictions continues as there was no letup in fresh Coronavirus cases and deaths in Kashmir valley, where ‘COVID curfew’ imposed by administration entered day 23 on Friday. The Union Territory (UT) witnessed another grim day on Thursday with 67 people, including 41 from Jammu and 26 from Kashmir, losing their lives to Coronavirus. As many as 4169 new positive cases, including 1518 from Jammu and 2509 from Kashmir, were also reported in J&K. |
