Two policemen suspended, inquiry initiated against SHO Pattan | | | Early Times Report
Baramulla, May 22: Two personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police were suspended and inquiry initiated against Station House Officer (SHO) of Pattan police station after a video of interrogation of a woman and her paramour in connection with the murder of her husband went viral. Police arrested the woman and her paramour for planning and murdering her husband in March. However, a video in which the woman and her paramour were seen being interrogated by police went viral now. The act of the video is highly unprofessional and unbecoming of a disciplined police. Police today said that two policemen were suspended and inquiry initiated against SHO concerned after the video went viral. Who put the video of interrogation of the accused on social media was not immediately clear. Reports said that during the intervening night of March 8 and 9 one Mohammad Altaf Malik was found dead near cowshed of his house at village Renji Pattan house in Baramulla. The body was buried later after FIR was registered under 174 CrPC. However, on March 22 brother of the deceased demanded inquiry into the death of Altaf. Later on the directions of District Magistrate, Baramulla, the body of Altaf was exhumed and postmortem was conducted by a panel of doctors from Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla. Police after receiving interim Medical Report and the statements of some prime witnesses, the inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC were converted into FIR (62/2021) under section 302 IPC of police station Pattan and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Pattan was constituted to investigate the murder. Police said the SIT activated all sources and by using a blend of technical and human intelligence, finally fixed the radar on the wife of the deceased as she was last her husband. She was put to sustained questioning during which she confessed the commission of the crime along with one Ghulam Mohammad Dar of the same Renji village. Police said woman and Dar were in an illegitimate relationship and had hatched a conspiracy to kill the deceased a month before the incident. Both the accused were arrested and the weapon of offence recovered upon their disclosure, police had said. |
