SRINAGAR, May 22: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 3,408 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 67,313. With 48 deaths being reported in past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 3,513.
Srinagar district reported 509 cases followed by Jammu district 490 cases, Budgam district 273 cases, Kulgam district 241 cases, Baramulla district 237 cases, Anantnag district 224 cases, Kupwara district 202 cases, Pulwama district 175 cases, Udhampur district 150 cases, Kathua district 138 cases, Ganderbal district 132 cases, Ramban district 128 cases, Rajouri district 119 cases, Bandipora district 112 cases, Samba district 82 cases, Poonch district 59 cases, Shopian district 52 cases, Doda district 43 cases, Reasi district 27 cases and Kishtwar district 15 cases.
Jammu district reported 16 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Anantnag district five deaths, Rajouri district four deaths, Srinagar, Kathua and Pulwama districts three deaths each, Doda, Samba, Baramulla and Shopian districts two deaths each and Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Budgam, Kupwara & Bandipora districts one death each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,408 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,251 from Jammu division and 2,157 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 67,313. Also 48 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 30 from Jammu division and 18 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 4,117 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,623 from Jammu division and 2,494 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 67,313 positive cases, 49,136 are active positive, 2, 14,664 have recovered and 3,513 have died; 1,669 in Jammu division and 1,844 in Kashmir division.
Out of 81, 88,640 test results available, 79, 21,327 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 20, 18,101 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,102 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 49,136 in isolation and 1, 33,759 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 57,591 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 61,647 positive cases, 6,571 active positive, 54,351 recovered, 725 deaths; Baramulla has 19,613 positive cases, 2,816 active positive, 16,561 recovered, 236 deaths; Budgam has 18,273 positive cases, 4,461 active positive, 13,650 recovered, 162 deaths; Anantnag has 13,024 positive cases, 4,641 active positive, 8,235 recovered, 148 deaths; Pulwama has 11,771 positive cases, 2,327 active positive, 9,292 recovered, 152 deaths.
“Kupwara has 10,418 positive cases, 1,832 active positive, 8,253 recovered, 133 deaths; Kulgam has 8,831 positive cases, 2,906 active positive, 5,836 recovered, 89 deaths; Bandipora has 7,769 positive cases, 1,189 active positive, 6,497 recovered, 83 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,658 positive cases, 1,114 active positive, 6,479 recovered, 65 deaths and Shopian has 4,906 positive cases, 1080 active positive, 3,775 recovered, 51 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 47,240 positive cases, 7,469 active positive, 38,836 recovered, 935 deaths; Udhampur has 9,986 positive cases, 1,622 active positive, 8,254 recovered, 110 deaths; Rajouri has 8,897 positive cases, 3,288 active positive, 5,456 recovered, 153 deaths; Kathua has 8,188 positive cases, 1,223 active positive, 6,850 recovered, 115 deaths; Samba has 6,317 positive cases, 2,424 active positive, 3,797 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Doda has 5,075 positive cases, 1,055 active positive, 3,939 recovered, 81 deaths; Reasi has 4,850 positive cases, 636 active positive, 4,182 recovered, 32 deaths; Poonch has 4,675 positive cases, 983 active positive, 3,618 recovered, 74 deaths; Ramban has 4,438 positive cases, 1,176 active positive, 3,216 recovered, 46 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,737 positive cases, 323 active positive, 3,387 recovered, 27 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 63,905 positive cases, 21,189 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
