Jammu, May 23: To augment measures with an aim to check surging cases of the pandemic, more than three lakh families were mopped in a door to door campaign recently conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Administration across the Jammu Division.
Official sources told UNI that in total, over 11 lakh families were mopped across the division including the highest 3.2 lakh in the Jammu district.
“To ascertain the cause of surging cases and swelling deaths, Jammu and Kashmir government has recently launched a door-to-door campaign and during four-day exercise, more than 11 lakh families were mopped across the Jammu Division,” official sources said.
They revealed that the highest number of people mopped in Jammu District.
Sharing the figures, an official said that a total of 3,28,929 families were surveyed out of which 3,24,673 were mopped, 5452 were tested, 1360 were referred families out of which 1977 were to the COVID Centres and 403 to the COVID hospital.
The teams deployed by the district administration visited door-to-door and enquired about those in home isolation with mild and severe symptoms following which, many were referred to COVID dedicated centres and hospitals for treatment.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg on Friday had said that despite decreasing trend in positive cases, the guard was not lowered and all measures were taken to combat the pandemic.
The positivity rate has dropped to below 7 per cent in the last few days, he said adding, “after new refined containment strategy and other measures being taken by the District Administration, overall positivity rate which was above 10 percent in the first week of May has dropped to below 7 percent in the last few days.”
Equivalent emphasis has been given to testing in urban as well as rural areas. Around 7 thousand to 8 thousand tests are being conducted on a daily basis out of which 50 per cent have been conducted in rural areas, he informed.
He said the Administration is laying more emphasis on early testing as testing, tracking and treatment is the only solution to win the battle against Covid-19.
Meanwhile, in the Jammu Division, teams surveyed a total of 11,44,304 families out of which 11,049,78 were mopped.
In Kathua, 1,39,359 families were surveyed, 1,38,361 mopped, 1,550 tested, 389 referred, 519 to Covid Centres and 138 to covid hospitals.
In Kishtwar, 50,841 families were surveyed, 49,887 were mopped, 445 tested, 115 referred, 183 to COVID centres and 17 to Covid hospitals.
In Poonch, 95,245 families surveyed, 83,526 were mopped, 1005 tested, 176 referred, 267 to Covid centres and 74 to Covid hospitals.
In Rajouri, 1,32,921 families surveyed, 1,22,807 were mopped, 5,652 tested, 259 referred, 397 to Covid centres and 242 to hospitals.
In Ramban, 59,955 families were surveyed, 59,634 were mopped, 439 tested, 40 referred, 41 to centres, 17 to hospitals. In Reasi, 70,815 families were surveyed, 66,097 were mopped, 301 were tested, 56 referred, 81 to centres, 3 to hospitals.
In Samba, 65,344 families were surveyed, 65,332 mopped, 599 tested, 147 referred, 254 to centres, 50 to hospitals.
In Udhampur, 1,10,369 families surveyed, 1,10,032 mopped, 702 tested, 19 referred, 24 to centres, five to hospitals.
In Doda, 90,539 families surveyed, 85,222 mopped, 497 tested, 11 referred, 11 to centres and five to hospitals.
“The teams held general enquiry of the health status of inmates, reviewed parameters of COVID positive and suspected persons in the household while moderately to severely symptomatic persons were referred to the triage facility for screening and follow up”, an official said.
The field teams were constituted by local Patwari/revenue officials, BLO of the area, beat Constable, and ANM/ASHA/MPHW of the health Dept. Support staff was drawn from the education Dept/local Anganwari workers etc.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government had directed all District Magistrates of Jammu division to constitute BLO area wise field teams to conduct an extensive mopping up exercise.
“The decision was in view of many instances of late reporting by patients to the COVID hospitals and even certain deaths being reported from homes,” said an official adding that each team surveyed 200-250 households assisted by local councillors/PRI members in the verification.
