AMFI , GCW Udhampur organizes webinar | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, May 25: An investor awareness webinar was organised on jointly by Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and Government college for women Udhampur on Strategy for Managing Personal Finance including Mutual Funds – During and after Covid19 The webinar was inaugurated by principal of the college Prof. Minu Mahajan. She in her inaugural address acquainted the participants about the importance of right and adequate investment of funds for better future. She also appreciated the organisers for organising the national webinar. Surya Kant Sharma, Sr. Consultant- North India, AMFI, who was keynote speaker in the webinar, in the beginning, touched upon the present scenario and at the outset cautioned the participants that the coming 12 months are going to the tough for all of us with regard to our personal finances and the first thing, we should all do, is to keep apart sufficient funds for taking care of monthly expenses covering minimum one year. He then shared basic information on various investment avenues available in the market viz. real estate, gold, Government/RBI bonds, corporate bonds, Government schemes (Post office schemes, PPF, NPS, Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, securities market etc. Sharma cautioned general investor not to enter securities market directly as there are inherent risks in the market and unless the investor have sound knowledge of market, sectors, economy, international economy etc. he should desist from entering into the market directly. Instead, mutual funds are best option available for general investor wherein he can invest a minimum amount of Rs.500/- though Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) and built a corpus over a period of time. There is wide spectrum of mutual funds schemes which can be chosen by an investor as per his investment horizon and need of funds. At the end, he cautioned participants not to invest in unregulated fund mobilisation schemes – Ponzi schemes - which give assurance for higher and quick return at the beginning but ultimately vanish with the hard earned money of investors. The not to wealthy investors are more susceptible to such allurement and have so far lost crores of rupees in recent past. In the second session Sunny Gonslaves {Manager NSDL} and Vishal Masurkar {Assistant Manager NSDL} hold a joint presentation on NSDL and NPS. At the end of the program there was a question answer session. The entire programme was convened and conducted under the guidance of Prof. Mool Raj, {HOD Urdu}who also gave welcome address to the guest speakers. Assistant Prof.Yash Paul {HOD History} formally introduced the speakers and vote of thanks on this occasion was presented by Assistant Prof. Sanjay Kumar {HOD Philosophy}. |
