Jammu, May 25: In view of the Covid-19 lockdown when people are relying on phones to get various types of information, phone numbers of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Jammu division office, are out of reach for the public.
Out of six three landline numbers given on the official website of JKBOSE are out of order while remaining three numbers are not picked by the officials, causing inconvenience to the public.
These numbers given against the officials include Joint Secretary, Secrecy, Estates, Accounts, Legal, Audit and PIO, Joint Director, Dr. Sudhir Singh contact number 0191-2581502 and 0191-2952366 .
Similarly Joint Secretary, Examinations, Administration, Registration Forms and ETTC (Acad./Exams) Section Joint Director Altaf Hussain, contact number 0191-2582240, 0191-2952639 and Joint Secretary-General Certificates, Verification and Records Sections JD Tripta Devi contact number 0191-2585732 and 0191-2953721.
Naresh Chander of Majalta informed Early Times that for the last over two weeks, he has been making frequent calls to the phone numbers mentioned on the official website but no one was picking up the phones starting with 258..... while the numbers starting with 295....are all out of order.
He said that he has to enquire about the procedure to get a copy of 10th diploma certificate of his son. “Given the lockdown conditions, we cannot move out or visit the BOSE office but there is no way to contact them to get information about any query,” Chander said.
Another aggrieved person said that he had been making contact with the Jammu based numbers for the last many days but on Monday, he made a phone call on the office numbers and someone on the phone number mentioned against the name of chairman picked up the phone and replied.
Early Times also tried to contact the Jammu based office numbers for two days but none picked up the phone while remaining three were out of order. “The phone numbers are the only way to contact these officials but they are out of reach, while the personal cell numbers of the officials are unavailable on the website”, another person said, adding that JKBOSE should establish a helpdesk during the lockdown days to reply to the queries of the people.
Estate officer of JKBOSE Kuldeep Sharma said that due to 50 percent attendance some officials might be not picking up the phones but the numbers with 258...are working. About the phone numbers starting with 295, Sharma said that the receivers were to be replaced by the department and due to lockdown, the receivers are yet to be purchased..
He further said that the JKBOSE would soon publish the list of numbers through print media for wider publication, so that the general public would be able to contact the JKBOSE authorities to get answers to their queries.
