19-year-old girl killed, mother critical after shell explodes in north Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Baramulla, May 27 : A 19-year-old girl was killed and her mother was critically injured after a shell exploded in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Thursday. A police official said that the duo -- identified as 19-year-old daughter Gulnaza Banu and 49 year-old Sara Begum – on Wednesday went to the forest to collect some vegetables in village Sharkoot vilgamin Amargrh, Handwara, in Kupwara. “The mother-daughter duo found a dead shell in the forest and apparently brought it back with them to their house,” he said. He said today when they opened the vegetable bag, the shell inside it exploded, resulting in critical injuries to them. “They were rushed to a hospital, where Gulnaza was declared brought dead,” they said. They said Sara Begum has been referred to Srinagar hospital in a critical condition. “Police has registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident,” they added. |
