Early Times Report

Vijaypur, May 27: Two siblings had to stop construction of their house here as their repeated pleas to get a high tension wire removed passing through their land have no takers.
Balbir Singh and his brother Ratan Singh residents of village Gagor of Vijaypur informed Early Times that they had started constructing a house on their own land falling under in Khasra number 373/361/124, but the work had to be stopped due to officials of the Power Department not redressing their genuine concern.
“A high-tension electricity line passes through the site where construction works are going on.
We have submitted three applications before the authorities, but till date our requests have not been considered”, said Balbir Singh.
He said, “An electric pole broke due to strong winds recently, now the authorities are deliberately blaming us for damaging the poll”, he said, adding that since no one is listening to them, the Deputy Commissioner Samba should take a note and intervene.
“We request Deputy Commissioner Samba to issue instructions to PDD authorities’ for removal of polls and wire from the site, so that we are able to complete the construction of our house,” he added.
In this regard, when contacted Executive Engineer, PDD Samba, BN Bhandari he said that the charge that no money has been demanded by the any official of the department.
“Allegations of bribe being demanded by the PDD officials are completely wrong.
Shifting of line will take time as no alternate/suitable place is available for the purpose”, he added.
