Jammu, May 27: While the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha released a direction to all panchayats to set up 5-bedded establishments to cater to the need of emergency in case of COVID problems in rural settings, same has been done exhaustively with some brave hearts taking the initiative far and strong. Sonam Aulakh, sarpanch Khandawal, besides laying down the protocol devised for COVID care in his panchayat , took a move ahead by deputing his 9 panches to take to training to handle the emergency situations also . “ I personally supervised all the exercise programme for my panches who were imparted training of handling oximeters , digital thermometers and managing oxygen concentrators so that immediate health care could be imparted to the patient before the medical help reaches him or her ,” said Sonam Aulakh . He also said that he has deputed all his nine panches in his panchayat to keep monitoring the health cell of 5-bedded establishment round the clock and keep vigil in absence of the patient even. “I have sounded all my panches to remain prepared for any help in the panchayat and reach the needy immediately without waiting for the official medical help to reach. This may help in minimizing the gravity of the illness,” said Sonam Aulakh.
It is in place to mention here that Sarpanch Khandwal , Sonam Aulakh has been tirelessly reaching out to his pupil in the constituency making them aware as to how to thwart the evil decadence of the pandemic by sticking to standing operating procedures as released from time to time. “The people in my panchyat are very sensitive to every development and are well literate about every global phenomenon also. They have been using the masks, sanitizers besides maintain social distancing, the reason die to which none has been tested positive so far,” said Sonam Aulakh .
Only a day before officials of health department have conducted tests upon 50 people of the Khandwal block and none had tested positive which is a good sign. In order to effectively tackle Covid-19 pandemic in rural areas, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha directed the Deputy Commissioners and Health department to ensure a minimum 5-bedded Covid Care Centre including one Oxygen supported bed in every Panchayat of Jammu & Kashmir for the patient requiring immediate medical attention.
Expenditure of up to Rs. 1 lakh per Panchayat has been approved by the Lt Governor from District Capex Budget to make these Centres immediately functional.
The decision has been taken to create basic minimum infrastructure to provide isolation facilities at Panchayat level as many households may not have option for isolation of Covid positive patients in their own residence.
