Spl Secy Forest visits Forest Divisions of Jammu region

JAMMU, June 13: Special Secretary to Government, Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment today concluded a two-day visit of all-important Forest Divisions of Jammu region covering Batote, Bhaderwah and Dudu-Basantgarh while meeting lot of public delegations there.
During these visits, Special Secretary Amit Sharma was accompanied by officers of Forest Department including DFO Batote Kuldeep Singh, DFO Bhaderwah Chander Shekhar, Wildlife Warden Sudh Madadev Rakesh, Range Officer Dudu Ayush Gupta and Range Officer Basantgarh Vinod Sharma.
During Basantgarh and Dudu visits, Special Secretary Forest Amit Sharma met lot of public delegations including Sarpanches and BDC Chairpersons there, note their issues / demands and took a round through thick Forest Cover of the areas. He also took note of the demands here such as opening of a Forest Sale Depot in Basantgarh, creation of Environment and Eco-Friendly Public Parks here. During the visit of Amit Sharma at Bhaderwah Forest Division, DFO briefed him about the achievements and the enhanced Forest Cover, Afforestation Drives and related initiatives taken in last two years. Special Secretary also made spot visit at Jai Valley Forest Range and took first hand stock of development works undertaken there. Special Secretary also reviewed the performance of DFO Batote and directed him for removal of all encroachments in a time-bound manner.
During the travel through Sudh Mahadev Wildlife Range, Special Secretary Forest Amit Sharma took stock of activities there and advised them to rake all possible steps for protection of Wildlife in this important belt of the Union Territory. While taking a round of Forest areas located in Dudu Range, he reviewed the work of department and told staff to control forest fires so as to save these priceless natural heritages which are a pretty-requisite for the survival of humankind.
