Religious tourism has great potential in J&K: Langar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 13: Convener Industries and Trade Cell, BJP J&K, Sham Lal Langar, today said that the replica of the Tirumala Tirupati Shrine in Jammu will boost the economy and tourism of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement issued here today, Sham Lal Langar congratulated the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for performing the Bhoomi Pujan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at the proposed site of the temple at Majeen area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The senior BJP leader said that the religious tourism has great tourist potential in Jammu and Kashmir and is one of the major contributors to its economic growth both in terms of employment and other activities. He asserted that the strenuous efforts are needed to bring the Union Territory on international tourist pilgrimage map as the region is replete with the historical religious sites of immense importance. Langer said that the construction of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple will go a long way in giving a strong boost to the economy of the long neglected Jammu region as the establishment of the temple and other facilities will have a far reaching impact on the tourism in this region be it the pilgrim or general tourism. He said that Jammu has huge potential for tourism sector and government should now make efforts to tap this potential by expediting all the projects including Artificial Lake, Mubarak Mandi Complex, Development of Suchetgarh border on the pattern of Wagah-Attari border, etc. This will automatically provide a big boost to business community that is presently passing through testing times. |
