Rana seeks restoration of statehood to J&K; guarantee for right to lands, jobs

JAMMU, June 13: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with guarantee for rights to lands and jobs to permanent residents.
“The promise held out in Parliament about restoration of statehood should be fulfilled forthwith”, Mr Rana said in an interaction with National Conference functionaries of Rajouri District, Rural and Urban, through virtual mode.
Provincial President Youth National Conference Ajaz Jan, Provincial President Women Wing Satwant Kour Dogra, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed , DDC Chairman Rajouri Ch. Naseem Liaquat, also participated in the five hour long virtual meeting, which discussed party affairs as also problems faced to the general public.
Calling for further reinvigorating National Conference at the grass-roots level, Mr Rana said the blend of experience of the senior colleagues and enthusiasm of the young would lead Jammu and Kashmir to surmount all its challenges on all fronts.
“Though the pandemic times have imposed certain limitations in the wake of mandatory social distancing yet the cadre should intensify the campaign to reach out the people and gear up for meeting the challenges”, Mr Rana said.
Mr Rana exhorted the cadre to gear up for a big role in the near future, as the people have greater expectations from the National Conference, which has a track record of public service and balanced development of all the regions besides welfare of all, irrespective of caste, creed, region or religion. History stands testimony to the sacrifices of the towering leaders in seeking dignified life for the people, based on justice, equality and compassion.
Mr Rana said that National Conference is a cadre based premier party, which has demonstrated its strength during the recent elections to the District Development Councils and registered an impressive victory. He congratulated the elected representatives and wished them strength to meet the expectations of their electorate.
Referring to the obtaining political situation, the Provincial President said the challenges are manifold and the response has to be pro-active for seeking a better life for the people by carving out a major role for them in the decision-making, which is the essence of democracy. In such a mechanism, the role for every segment, young and old becomes imperative. It is with this view, the National Conference has always provided a platform to young leaders and women to grow and lead the society in different capacities. In fact, the youth are a powerful engine to carry forward the cherished message of tolerance, amity and brotherhood, which stand guarantee to progressive and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir with each region and sub-region, religion or cast and men and women enjoying equal opportunities to progress and prosper, he added.
The Provincial President also responded to the issues raised by the participants with regard to governance and functioning of various services. He hoped the administration would appreciate the imperative of ensuring regulated power and drinking water supply, better road network, availability of rations and above all, a viable health infrastructure to cope up with the challenge of corona virus that has brought enormous miseries to the people.
During their interventions, Provincial President Youth National Conference Mr Ajaz Jan urged the youth to channelize their energies for steering Jammu and Kashmir to peace and progress.
Provincial President Women Wing, Mrs Satwant Kour Dogra lauded the women leaders and workers for registering enviable victory during the elections to district development councils, saying this speaks about the political empowerment of women under the banner of National Conference.
Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed stressed the need for intensifying the membership drive by reaching out to the cadre in remote areas.
