Demolition drive at Muthi: Owner alleges team overlooked court order | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: District administration today carried out a demolition drive in Muthi area here, but the owner of the demolished property, alleged that the officer, who was leading the team, overlooked the court order and even abused one of the family members, who fell unconscious. “Our property (shops) does not fall within the alignment of widened Jammu-Akhnoor Road”, said a youth from the victim's family. He said that earlier the administration had made similar attempts, but due to the court order, they couldn’t succeed. “Lower Court, Tribunal and High Court have issued orders in our favour and we even have no objection certificates from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jammu Development Authority (JDA)”, he said, adding that “The team carried out drive the demolition at 9 am when no government office is open. It was a pre-planned move.” “They damaged our three shops; it was a source of income for our 15 member family. The team did not touch any other property in the same area. When the media reached here, the team tried to escape and stopped the drive”, he said, adding that “Police officers were very rude to us.” |
